Uzbekistan is an outstanding place. Most of its magnificent exotic sites are more than two millennia old. This country of ancient civilisations used to be a part of the Silk Road. Later on, these lands were conquered by Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and Timur. It is important to visit great splendid mosques and mausoleums of Samarkand, look into the Ark fortress and old town of Bukhara, wander along twisting narrow streets of ancient Khiva. But for a better idea of what is Uzbekistan we offer to see the places beyond the standard itinerary. We drive along the seabed to the Aral sea, look at the ancient citadels in the middle of the desert, meet and talk to local people, stay for lunch in their houses, workshops try homemade bread and delicious tandyr-kabob cooked for us in small kishlak lost in the mountains... and many more.
